Includes two free additional short stories.
That's three 'terrorific' short stories for one low price.

Playing hide-and-seek in a cemetery is disrespectful. When it happens to be cursed, the results can be deadly. Or even worse, as Jason finds out when he takes a bet to play an ill-fated game on Halloween.

Includes the bonus short story Brother's Keeper – Zack would be wise to spend less time looking for his missing sled and more time worrying about what is lurking outside. But he's not the only one who'll have to pay for his single-mindedness.

Also includes the bonus short story Grandpa's suits – A game of spin-the-bottle with the school pervert isn't a bright idea. Fortunately for Zoey, she's not quite alone.

Five Chapter Extended Preview of Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb
When life gives you lemons, kill zombies—turns out lemon juice neutralizes the undead.
Best friends Nathan & Misty return home to discover the military has destroyed the bridges out of their rural town & everyone's fled—except a small horde of zombies.
Even with the help of the town geek, they'll need more then lemonade-powered Super-Soakers; they'll need the Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb.

These stories are not recommended for kids under 8.

Praise for Hide-n-Go-Coffin
"I really liked these scary stories. They are short and easy to read. I didn't know what was going to happen until it did. It wasn't TOO scary though, so I didn't end up having nightmares. They were more suspenseful then scary. They reminded me of the Goosebumps stories that I really like. " -Kids Review from E&K family Reviews

"This is a good book if you like scary stories. It's almost a page turner whe(re) you want to keep reading. 5 Stars." -Tech4Geeks

"...when I had finished reading it, my only thought was If only that could happen to all of them." 5 Star Review. -Sparky Dash

Overall: 4 1/2 stars

Plot/Storyline: 4 1/4 stars

These stories are firmly in the tween and up niche, with the last story keeping them from being for an even younger crowd if a parent is squeamish about "spin the bottle" - although there is nothing explicit there. There is also a mention of underage drinking, but not in an "all the cool kids do it" way. I enjoyed it and it appealed to my inner kid sitting around the campfire - these could be urban legends in the making. I probably wouldn't think of the logic of the stories too hard - any more than I would the logic of the old story about the escapee from the mental hospital with a hook for an arm, or why repeating the woman's name in front of the mirror three times causes her to appear - I'm not even typing the name, so forget about it.

I mention urban legends, because they tend to be cautionary tales and play on common fears, and those qualities are in evidence here. Each story had a definite "don't" that, if heeded, would have made these stories quite uneventful.

Hide-n-Go-Coffin (4 1/2 stars)

This is, appropriately, the first story, and I quite liked the voice of the main character, a young boy. Jason sounded like a bright kid, but not a sitcom uber-genius. He had just the right amount of savvy to mock the ghost story being told to him, and note the plot holes. Clearly, this kid could take my gig here if he wanted it since I'm the one telling you to not think about it too hard. The mood here: claustrophobic. Reading about it all made me a little panicky.

Brother's Keeper: (5 stars)

I quite liked the voice of the main character, a young boy. Zack sounded like a bright kid, but not a sitcom uber-genius. (Wait, what?)Actually, a few more IQ points would have helped him out. I like that Zack is a pretty good kid who feels guilty about accusing his brother falsely, but not a good enough kid to confess. I, too, was that type of kid - with better results. This seriously creeped me out.

Grandpa's Suits: (3 ½ stars)

I quite liked the voice of the main character - never mind. Anyhow, another realistic kid. It cracked me up at the party the silly rules Tammy, Zoey's friend, had for the order of who'd spin the bottle. Reminded me of my lost youth. Pardon me while I weep for a moment. There is a good grain of a story here, and a weird sweetness, but the ending just needed a little something more. One last creep-out moment or line.

Writing style: 5 stars

The writing style is straight forward. Simple without annoying my adult sensibilities. Nothing fancy or sophisticated. Fun and scary for (almost) all ages. The perfect style for the stories told.

Editing: 4 stars

I don't really think Zack's bed had a rusty steal frame. I found a few grammar and spelling glitches here and there, particularly in the last story. (For instance, "lday" instead of "lady.") Overall, within acceptable limits, but I have to subtract just a little something.

HidenGoCoffin and Other Scary Short Stories edition by MJ Ware Children eBooks Reviews

These short stories are well written with the exception of the last story which contained a couple grammatical errors. I had my 8yr old daughter skip out on the last one, just because spin the bottle content is a bit over her head ). These would definitely be good camp fire stories, short enough to remember- but scary enough to make you uneasy in the dark. My favorite story was probably the first one, I wasn't expecting the outcome.

Overall, whether you are 8 or an adult and like scary stories- These would be a good quick read for you. Maybe even fun to read with your kids!
If you're looking for some scary stories to read around the campfire, at Halloween maybe, with the kids wide-eyed and never going to sleep--well, most definitely never going to sleep in the nearest haunted coffin--this book's for you. M.J.A. Ware's tales are told in a pleasantly chatty first-person style, the voice convincingly that of a young teen put-upon by sisters, brothers, parents, friends and the rest of the world... until the rest of the world jumps in with scares aplenty.

Hide-n-Go Coffin tells of a little brother trying to prove he's big and strong. But there's a very modern twist waiting when he innocently slips into traditionally scary danger. Brother's Keeper is the haunting tale of a boy obsessed with blaming his brother for everything; this dark winter's night holds horrors definitely not for the younger kids. (Let's make this age 8 plus.) Then Grandpa's Suits, rather pleasingly, changes the voice to that of a teenage girl, making this a delightful collection to read with a group. The author provides a truly scary spin on the popular game of spin-the-bottle, and ends the collection by inviting readers to sign up for his mailing list or look for his novels. With titles like Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb they're bound to be a hit...

And then you can go to his website, if you dare... where you'll find Steven, Space Stowaway, a brave young adventurer who's just too scared to stay with his aunt; he might have even worse dangers to face out in the place where no one hears you scream. Or, if you want a slightly longer read, there's Monster in the Mirror, another fine collection of scary stories (which includes poor Steven's tale).

Disclosure I was sent an ecopy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
